Proof of age will be required. We work hard at making all our camps age appropriate. It's important the camp meets the needs of both you and your child, which will ensure everyone has an exciting learning experience. Children must be of appropriate age for camps by June 1, 2013.

Summer is a blast when you spend it at Curious Kids' Museum! Don't miss our fantastic fun-filled day camps! All camps are educationally based programs incorporating hands-on science activities. Each week our campers will go on an "Animal Hunt," check out St. Joe's local horse drawn transportation, play on the beach each day, brown bag lunches on the Bluff, listen to local music at the bandstand, field trips, swimming, and private time to explore the Museum exhibits! This is all in addition to the weekly camp theme! Our qualified staff is handpicked, trained in First Aid, CPR, and each of them has worked with children for a number of years. Camp is a great way to gather precious memories and build special friendships that will last a lifetime!
Please note fees vary with camps and trips. Full payment is due at registration. Cancellations must be made within 7 days prior to camp for camp refund, minus a $25 registration fee. Cancellations made within 7 days of camp will not be refunded, but will receive a credit.
Save $10 when registering two siblings for the same week. Three siblings, save $20 when registering all 3 for the same week. Members who sign their child up for 4 or more camps save $40.

Morning Session: 7:30-9:00 a.m.
Afternoon Session: 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Afternoon Sessions are NOT available for the 4-6 year old camps.
Costs: $6.00 each session, $12/day, or $60 all week/child
Cost includes adult staff, snacks, and playtime in the Museum. Reservations and payments must be made in advance. The Museum must have a minimum of 2 children/session to operate Child Care each day. Child drop off and pick-up are through the Museum's south parking lot door. Please be prompt.
CURIOSITY CAMPS
For Ages 4-6, Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m

Hands-on Science discoveries, creative art activities, music, games, private play time in the Museum, snacks and drinks each day. Our camps are designed to teach children how to observe situations and solve problems as they explore the world around them.

On the Go! Trucks, Trains, Boats and Planes
June 24-27
Gear up for a wild ride! Campers will kick off the week by constructing roads, lakes and train tracks for this fun week! An up close look at a real police car and fire truck will surely thrill these enthusiasts. There will be lots of creative thinking going on as young engineers design boats to float and planes that soar through the air. Campers will learn about buoyancy, propulsion, and force...they'll just call it FUN!
The Magic Tree House Adventures
July 8-11
Monday... "Dinosaurs Before Dark." Where did the tree house come from? Before the campers can find out, the mysterious tree house whisks them back to the prehistoric past. Now they have to figure out how to get home. Can they do it before dark- or will they become a dinosaur dinner?
Tuesday... "Night of the Ninjas." Have you ever met a real live Ninja? Campers will be whisked back to ancient Japan, where they find themselves in the cave of a Ninja master. Will they learn the secrets of the Ninja? Or will the evil Samurai warriors get them first?
Wednesday... "Sunset of the Sabertooth." The Ice Age is very cool...we'll all be freezing when the Magic Tree House transports us back to the time of the cave people and wooly mammoths, Saber-tooth Tigers, and Mastodons! It will be a wild adventure where you can touch the teeth of a Saber-tooth Tiger, Wooly Mammoth and Mastodon!
Thursday... "Midnight on the Moon." Three...two...one...BLAST OFF! The magic tree house will whisk the campers off to the moon- and the future. Their mission? To find the last "M" thing that will free Morgan from the spell. Can they do it before the air in their oxygen tanks run out? Will the mysterious moon help them? And why is Peanut the Mouse acting so strange?
Dr. Seuss- "All The Places We Will Go"
July 15-18
Monday... "Put Me in the Zoo." I will go into the zoo. I want to see it...yes I do! Would you like to live in the zoo? If you had spots would they put you in the zoo? From violet spots to red, I can put them in the zoo and I can put them on you!
Tuesday... "The Cat in the Hat." Look at me! Look at me! Look at me now! It is fun to have fun- But you have to know how!
Wednesday... "Green Eggs and Ham." Do you like green eggs and ham- I do not like them Sam-I-am. Our green eggs and ham will delight all the campers' pallets...yummy-yum!
Thursday... "One Fish...Two Fish." Red fish, blue fish... from there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere... our campers will surely travel far and near without ever leaving the building.

Pirates, Pirates, PIRATES!
July 22-25
Well Shiver me timbers... if you don't have a fun time in this camp... you will be walking the plank matey! Does the lure of treasure, and the call of adventure sound good to you...then this camp is for you! Campers will build a pirate ship, and hunt for hidden treasures all over the museum using the spyglasses they make. Favorite pirate games- musical islands, tick tock, and find the croc will have our campers laughing and wanting more.
Dinosaurs- No Bones About It
July 29-Aug. 1
Dinosaurs are back by popular demand! Dinosaur crazed kids will learn about plant-eating and meat-eating dinosaurs, and how dinosaurs move. Find out new discoveries about dinosaurs, including which ones were warm-blooded and had fur! Dig for fossils, make your own dino-books and fabricate your own dinosaur. Campers will use grids, brushes, and trowels to carefully work away and remove sand from around fossils. Discover exciting facts about dinosaurs while viewing REAL dinosaur bones and fossils. Campers will have a digging good time!
A Curiously Creative Side
Aug. 5-8
Fun...Fun...Fun... everyday! If you love to draw, get messy, create and play ALL day... then this camp is for you! We consider everyone to be an artist in their own way, so no previous skills are needed! Exercising the creative side of the brain is a helpful skill that will be used throughout your entire life. Splatter-painting and sand-painting- campers will create their own snacks, bake it and eat it! Shaving cream fun and handprint bouquets, just to name a few! Come on in and enjoy ALL the different crafts, games and fun for the week!

Campers should bring a sack lunch with drink, sunscreen and a lightweight jacket each day, and swimsuit and towel on swim day. Make sure campers wear comfortable shoes and clothing each day...clothes that can get dirty. {Girls without heels please}.
Your leader will give you a schedule each Monday which includes Swim Day, Whirlpool Rose Compass splash fountain, and play time for that week.
Hooked on Fishing
June 24-28
Ages: 8 and Up
Cost: $145.00 Members $165.00 Non-members
Grab your poles...No previous experience required, just an interest to learn and have fun! Campers will learn the basics of fishing, casting, baiting their own hooks, tying flies, cleaning their catch and what to do when you have a BIG one on the line! Campers will enjoy the great outdoors while learning about fish habitats, marine biology and anatomy (also known as blood and guts)! Fishing trips will be to Lake Michigan, the St. Joseph River, along with pier fishing. This exciting week will conclude with "fish telling stories" and a fish fry on Friday for the campers. Bring your own fishing pole and gear. (For those who do not own their own poles, extra poles and gear will be available for campers to share). Campers are to bring a brown bag lunch with drink each day except Friday. Campers will need to bring light-weight jackets and sunscreen each day. Museum will provide lifejackets for campers. ALL campers will wear a lifejacket at ALL times down by the water...NO EXCEPTIONS!
Kids' Culinary Camp
July 8-12
Ages: 7-12
Cost: $145.00 Members $165.00 Non-members
Are your children always "helping" in the kitchen? Then this is the camp for them! Everyone will participate in making various aspects of their meals. In addition to general cooking techniques, the campers will be instructed on safe food handling and equipment safety, along with table etiquette. Campers will learn how to read a recipe, prepare and cook delicious and healthy dishes with emphasis on nutrition. During the week campers will make their own cookbook with copies of the recipes which they create. Local Chefs will be coming throughout the week to work with the campers on preparing their lunches. It will surely be a tastefully delicious camp!
Girls of America
July 15-19

NOTE~~ Overnight in the museum on Thursday night. Details will be given to you on the first day of camp.
Each day campers will enjoy a favorite American Girl character in a whole new way with this interactive camp. Campers will get to watch history unfold before their eyes each day as they explore the different periods of American history with their dolls and their elaborate backgrounds. Bring your imagination as you embark on this fun-filled week.
Caroline Abbott is a strong young lady. Caroline Abbott is doing what she loves most- sailing on Lake Ontario with Papa- when her world turns upside down. A British officer boards their sloop, announces that Britain and America are once again at war, and takes her father prisoner. As Papa is led away, Caroline promises him that she will be brave until he returns. Then the British attack her village and it looks as if the Americans are in trouble. As the War of 1812 begins, so does the story of Caroline Abbott's bravery.

If you love getting wet every day, this is the camp for you! Campers will explore and experience the beauty of Lake Michigan's Silver Beach each morning as they hike down to the warm sand beach for a little morning fun. Campers will take a field trip to Sarett Nature Center to explore the science of water and learn more about pond animals and plants. Learning about the dangers of Lake Michigan and the art of rescue from our Coast Guard is a must when living or vacationing on the lake. Fun water games, water balloon toss, slip-and-slide and play time down at the Rose Compass Water Fountain will round out the days. There will be lots of water fun and water experiments for everyone!
I Spy Adventures
July 29-Aug. 2

If you love mysteries...then this camp is for you! Campers will develop their detective skills by solving mini mysteries throughout BOTH museums all week. Trips to the Fire Station and Police Department will surely shed light on how firefighters and policemen solve their cases. Campers will learn more about DNA and how it's used to solve cases. All spies have to be in good shape...campers will train the first day to pass a "security clearance test" to obtain their spy kits and t-shirts. At the end of the week, all campers will have an increased awareness of all that is around them.
Herpetology Camp
Aug. 5-9
Ages: 7-12
Cost: $145.00 Members $165.00 Non-members
Inquisitive children will love this 5-day nature camp where they explore the fascinating world of amphibians and reptiles. During the week campers will interact with snakes, turtles, frogs and even an alligator! All under the watchful eye of animal expert Tom Moore of Wild Tracks, who will be teaching them safe handling techniques. Campers will learn how to take care of animals in a captive situation, as well as how to conserve them in their natural environments. A field trip for a catch and release, and guest speakers who work closely with wildlife will encourage our campers to make good ecological choices when they grow up.
